Solar Thermal Workshop Raleigh, North Carolina June 12th 2009

Raleigh NC Solar Hot Water Workshop

Specific location and time TBA.

Nestled among the native long-leaf pines in the heart of the Tar Heel State lies a band of progressive, prosperous communities with a quality of life which has landed Raleigh and the family of communities that make up the Research Triangle region of North Carolina among the nation’s best places to live, start a business, raise a family, and earn a world-class education.

The Research Triangle (or simply Triangle, as we like to call our area of North Carolina for short) is so named due to educational institutions such as North Carolina State University in Raleigh, Duke University in Durham, and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, which are three of the nation’s top research universities.

At the center of our region is Research Triangle Park, the nation’s largest planned research development community, where you’ll find some of the world’s largest corporations as well as promising fledgling businesses, working side-by-side.

North Carolina is known for its mild weather and natural beauty. We enjoy an average annual temperature of about 60 degrees Fahrenheit, but we also have four distinct seasons. We get an occasional snow that keeps the kids happy in winter, incredible flowers and lush greenery in the spring and summer, and a brilliant display of color in the fall.

SunMaxx Solar offers a complete selection of solar hot water products, such as the SunMaxx TS20 and the SunMaxx TS30. These thermosyphon systems require no pumps or electronics in order to opoerate. Simply install one of these systems for your home, facing the system into the sun as much as possible, and you, too, can reduce your dependance on fossil fuels while enjoying free hot water.

SunMaxx TS20

Operational Basics of a Solar Thermosyphon System:

Through the process of natural convection, hot water rises and cold water sinks. This is the key principle which explains the operation of a Thermosyphon System. Cold water sinks from the storage tank at the top of the unit, into the evacuated tubes where that cold water is heated. As the water increases in temperature, it rises back up into the storage tank. Throughout the day, all of the cold water within the Thermpsyphon System will be heated in this way.
