Solar Thermal Workshop Atlanta, Georgia June 13th 2009

Specific location and time TBA.
In recent years Atlanta has shifted from being a city of commerce into being a city of international influence. It is among the fastest growing cities in the developed world for much of the last 30 years. The Atlanta Metropolitan Area is the central metropolis of the Southeastern United States and is also the largest metropolitan area in the emerging megalopolis known as the Piedmont Atlantic MegaRegion
Atlanta has a humid, subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild, but occasionally chilly winters by the standards of the rest of the United States. July highs average 89°F or above, and low average 71°F. Like the rest of the southeastern U.S., Atlanta receives abundant rainfall, which is evenly distributed throughout the year.
Businesses continue to move into the Midtown district. The district's newest tower, 1180 Peachtree, opened there in 2006 at a height of 645 feet, and achieved a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification that year from the U.S. Green Building Council. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta has planted and distributed over 68,000 shade trees.

Operational Basics of a Solar Thermosyphon System:
Through the process of natural convection, hot water rises and cold water sinks. This principle is what allows a Thermosyphon System to operate. Cold water sinks from the storage tank at the top of the unit, into the evacuated tubes. While within the tubes, the cold water is heated, rising back up into the storage tank as its temperature rises. Throughout the day, all of the cold water within the Thermpsyphon System will be heated in this way.

To learn more and sign up for Silicon Solar Seminars, use the following links:
Silicon Solar offers a number of seminars throughout the year in order to assist homeowners, small business owners, and renewable energy dealers and installers in learning basic and advanced concepts and techniques for Solar Electric (PV) Systems, Solar Thermal (Hot Water and Hot Air) Systems and Wind Energy Systems.
These seminars and workshops are specially designed to help newcomers to the renewable energy field get a basic or advanced understanding of the different renewable energy options that are available, how these various systems can be applied at home or around the office to save hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year in energy costs. Renewable energy dealers and installers also find these seminars very benficial, as a way to stay up to date on the latest renewable energy equipment, news, industry trends and sales techniques.
Silicon Solar Seminars are great for anyone interested in renewable energy, no matter what their Solar Technologies knowledge level might have been prior to the workshop. Even those who have only heard the words solar energy, wind energy, or solar hot water will leave our seminars with an understanding of how renewable energy will help them to save money, how these same systems can help to save the environment, and what renewable energy options are available and affordable on any budget.
