SunMaxx Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water Systems are more than adequate to provide domestic hot water for households in northern, cold climates. These types of systems have long been touted as the perfect solution for southern climates where cold temperatures were not an issue, and now they are able to be used in northern locations.
The Thermosyphon Solar Heating & Hot Water Systems have an integrated Solar Hot Water Storage Tank that is mounted directly to the top of the Solar Collector where the manifold would traditionally go. This means that the storage tank is outdoors, and is exposed to all of the freezing temperatures and harsh conditions that make winters in the northeast and northwest some of the worst times throughout the year in the United States.
To disprove the long-held theory that Thermosyphon systems are unsuitable for northern climates, the SunMaxx Team recently setup a 40 Gallon Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water System at their Upstate New York office in Bainbridge, and conducted a 60 hour temperature performance test in the middle of New York's winter. These are the results.
